It’s no secret Hastings loves dogs. Hastings, St Leonards and Bexhill must be one of the most dog-friendly places in the UK. Earlier this month we caught up with Denby, the Border Collie from St Leonards who turns four this month, and asked him five questions including where his favourite place is for walkies and who are his best paw pals.

Hi, Denby thanks for agreeing to be Get Hastings first Dog of the Month. Let’s dive straight in with our questions.

Describe your character in one sentence.

Trying to make fetch happen.

What is your favourite place in Hastings or St Leonards for walkies?

I am a very sociable dog-about-town, who likes just being out and about meeting people. But, for proper walkies, I love Church Woods, in Hollington.

Any interesting/unusual habits?

When I get wet, I like to dry off by rubbing my face on soft furnishings and making dinosaur noises!

Do you have a dog bed or do you just get in with your parents?

I like to keep it varied, so I sleep on the sofa, floor, in my bed and in between the humans too!

Fave butcher or are you vegan?

I live in St Leonards & sometimes the humans get me chicken livers or duck breasts from Kings the Butchers. They are dog lovers in there!

Who is your best paw pal?

My best fur-ends are all girls: Juno the whippet cross, Onyx the collie, Ripley the Kokoni cross, and I’m currently working on Nora the podenko who lives at Stooge coffee… I’m a charmer.

Do you like or loathe cats?

I like to herd them! Not sure what to do once they’re rounded up though?!

Do your humans have any annoying habits?

Constantly taking photos of me.
