It’s no secret Hastings loves dogs. Hastings, St Leonards and Bexhill must be one of the most dog-friendly places in the UK. This month we caught up with Mabel, who lives near West Hill, Hastings. We asked Mabel five questions including where her favourite place is for walkies and who are his best paw pals.

Hi, Mabel thanks for agreeing to be a Get Hastings Dog of the Month (even though its not actually monthly!) Let’s dive straight in with our questions.

Describe your character in one sentence.

Your safety is my concern.

What is your favourite place in Hastings or St Leonards for walkies?

I love low tide so much but my dog walker, James at Coastal Walkies takes me to all the lovely woods we have locally.

Any interesting/unusual habits?

Being genetically blessed with the DNA of over 11 different types of terrier, I tend to take home security very seriously.

Do you have a dog bed or do you just get in with your parents?

I have a lovely bed but I sleep where it suits me.

Fave butcher or are you vegan?

I’m not fussy! I love oat milk but I also love fish, chicken and other meats.

Who is your best paw pal?

My best pal is Molly (the Get Hastings office dog) but I will always have a soft spot for my boyfriend, Fredo.

Do you like or loathe cats?

I never met a cat that I didn’t like… to chase!

Do your humans have any annoying habits?

They laugh at the fact that I take home security so seriously.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Home security is no laughing matter. Be alert at all times.

Mabel was lucky enough to have her very own song commissioned!
